I was listening to Dubai Eye’s program rerun this morning, and a very interesting show was on. The speaker, a charismatic) man, who also happens to be the owner of Take My Junk. From what I understood, this ‘non-profit’ type company is interested in helping people who don’t have much (mostly workers in Ajman), by donating other people’s ‘junk’ to them.
Think of this scenario, an expat has to leave Dubai quicker than expected, and cannot sell his/her items on Dubizzle. Items usually get thrown out, taken to a land fill. This is where Take My Junk steps in. They’ll take your ‘junk’ and put it to good use.
The company has been around for a mere 1.5 months, but they have already helped many of UAE’s neediest people. So if you have something, that you cannot or do not want to sell, why not consider giving the ‘Surplus Collector’ a ring. Here’s how you can contact them:

Despite all the compliments of the Surplus collector’s, my experience with them was awful. I found them very unprofessional and unresponsive. I sent them an email a week in advance and asked them to confirm the pickup, but I never received a proper confirmation. The day before the “scheduled” pickup they mention that they are unavailable and offered to send a van for the low cost of AED 300. Personally i think they are a scam!!!
Oh goodness. I’m really sorry to hear that. They sounded very professional on the radio program.
